3.23.26.
Prologue
We are in a major upgrade and a clearer, stronger future for Universe Spirit, The Way of the Universe, and the next stage of our teaching work. If you have visited our websites recently and thought, “Something major is happening here,” you are absolutely right.
We are in the middle of a deep, long-overdue upgrade of many years' worth of ideas, teachings, practices, pages, and educational materials. This is not a cosmetic refresh. It is not a light editing pass. It is a major reorganization designed to make our work clearer, more accessible, more useful, and much less confusing for both new visitors and long-time readers. We hope to be fully done with this extensive upgrade by January 2027.
Over the last 25 years, our Universe Spirit mission work has grown in depth, range, and complexity. Our old website has about 1,000 pages and has had millions of views.
That growth over the last 25 years brought many valuable insights, but it also created a practical challenge: some materials focused on practical philosophy, some focused on spirituality and metaphysics, and some blended both together in ways that made sense historically but are no longer the clearest way to present what we do.
So we are fixing that. And frankly, after this much accumulated material, it was time. Here is the big picture. The explanations are a bit further below:
1. The old Universe Spirit website will be gradually merged into the new Universe Spirit website.
2. All of the Way of the Universe philosophy and science currently on the new Universe Spirit website will be moved to the new and seperate Way of the Universe website.
We are separating all of our science-related and secular philosophy work, which will go to the new Way of the Universe website, from all of the metaphysics and personal spirituality materials, which will go to the new Universe Spirit website.
Here is the most basic information you will need in the next three sections. Below those three sections, you will find a more strategic description of what we are doing and why.
Quick Overview of the upgrading process and ongoing changes
1. Some key names are changing during the transition
One of the most important parts of this upgrade is creating a cleaner and more understandable naming system.
Older materials often used the term Evolution Spirituality and sometimes other related labels.
Going forward:
-
- Universe Spirit refers to the spiritual-metaphysical website and organization.
- Universe Spirituality is the preferred name for the spiritual path taught there.
- Evolution Spirituality remains an older legacy term that may still appear on some pages during the transition.
- The Way of the Universe refers to the separate secular philosophy and practical framework.
- Many older names we used on our old website are also being discontinued like, religion 2.0, religion 1.5, religion 1.0, evolutionary spirituality, evo Spirituality, etc.
This simpler naming structure will help reduce confusion and make the relationship between our projects much easier to understand.
2. Why this matters
We are not just cleaning up labels.
We are making it easier for people to find what they actually need.
If you want a rational, practical philosophy for living well, you should be able to find it quickly.
If you want a thoughtful, open, non-dogmatic spirituality that respects science and personal freedom, you should be able to find that quickly too.
And if you want both, you should be able to understand how they relate without needing a decoder ring, an interpretive committee, and three cups of tea.
3. What you may notice during the transition
During this upgrade process, you may see:
-
- pages that still use older names,
- links between older and newer materials,
- sections being rewritten or moved,
- temporary overlap between sites,
- and occasional notes explaining where content now belongs.
That is normal for a project of this size.
We are working through many years of material and doing our best to preserve what is most valuable while making the whole structure clearer, more welcoming, and more useful.

What is changing strategically at both the new Universe Spirit website and the Way of the Universe website?
We are separating our work into two clearer homes so each can fully become what it is meant to be.
The Way of the Universe is becoming its own separate website and identity.
It is our secular, science-grounded philosophy for living wisely and effectively in a difficult century. It focuses on practical principles, wiser choices, healthy attitudes, ethical responsibility, reality-based living, and the lessons we can learn from long-term patterns of successful adaptation, cooperation, and evolution.
In plain English: this is the philosophy side.
Universe Spirit is being refined to focus more clearly and exclusively on:
-
- open-source personal spirituality,
- rational metaphysical exploration,
- existential meaning,
- spiritual practice,
- and the deeper questions of identity, purpose, mystery, and our relationship to the greater whole.
In plain English: this is the spiritual and metaphysical side.
This clearer separation will help people understand what they are looking at, where to begin, and which parts of our work are most relevant to them.
Some people come looking for a practical philosophy.
Some come looking for spiritual depth.
Some want both.
Some want one without the other.
And some understandably do not want five overlapping names for the same thing before they have even finished the first paragraph.
Fair enough.
Why are we doing this?
Because clarity matters.
When philosophy, spirituality, metaphysics, worldview, ethics, and practical life guidance all live together in one sprawling blended structure, it becomes harder for people to understand what belongs where and how the pieces fit together.
This upgrade is meant to make our work:
-
- easier to understand,
- easier to navigate,
- easier to trust,
- and easier to use in everyday life.
We are not changing the heart of our mission.
We still care deeply about:
-
- living in alignment with reality,
- learning from science and the long arc of evolution,
- supporting wiser choices and better lives,
- encouraging responsibility, compassion, and integrity,
- and helping people face today’s world with courage, perspective, and practical hope.
What is changing is the structure, language, organization, and presentation so that what we have spent years developing can finally be experienced in a clearer and more coherent form.
The deep value and living legacy of the older website
As we continue this transition, we want to say something very clearly:
The older Universe Spirit website remains a deeply valuable part of who we are.
It carries decades of thought, reflection, experimentation, spiritual insight, philosophical development, and sincere effort to bring together science, spirituality, meaning, ethics, and practical wisdom in one evolving body of work.
It is not just an old website.
It is our archive of growth, our intellectual and spiritual history, and a rich storehouse of ideas that helped shape everything we are building now.
Over the last 25 years, the older site explored big questions with an unusual range and depth:
-
- the relationship between science and spirituality,
- the meaning of evolution in human life,
- the search for a healthy and open spirituality,
- the role of metaphysics and existential inquiry,
- and the practical challenge of living wisely in a rapidly changing world.
That work matters.
It helped us discover what was strongest, what remained timeless, what needed refinement, and what needed a clearer and more accessible form for today’s audience.
So as we move material into the new Universe Spirit website and into the separate Way of the Universe website, we are not abandoning the old site’s legacy.
We are building on it.
We are preserving its best insights, its hard-earned depth, and its long history of thoughtful exploration, while also improving the way that material is organized, named, and presented.
That is important because both the old depth and the new clarity are needed.
The older website contains many profound ideas, subtle distinctions, and historical developments that should not be lost. It offers context, philosophical background, spiritual lineage, and conceptual richness that continue to nourish the work.
The newer presentation brings something equally important:
-
- greater clarity,
- cleaner structure,
- easier navigation,
- more accessible language,
- and a better separation of philosophy from metaphysics and personal spirituality.
In other words, the older site offers much of the depth, legacy, and formative richness, while the newer sites are being designed to offer the clarity, structure, and usability needed for the future.
We need both.
Without the older materials, we risk losing history, nuance, and the deeper roots of the work.
Without the newer structure, we risk burying valuable ideas under too much overlap, complexity, and mixed language.
So this transition is not a rejection of the past.
It is a thoughtful integration of the best of the past with the needs of the future.
Our goal is not to erase the legacy, but to honor it by making it more alive, more coherent, and more accessible to the people who need it now.
What is staying the same?
The deeper continuity of the work remains intact.
Across all of these changes, we are still committed to:
-
- honest inquiry,
- personal growth,
- practical wisdom,
- spiritual freedom,
- ethical responsibility,
- and a larger understanding of life grounded in both evidence and deep reflection.
The mission continues.
The form is becoming clearer.
What happens to the older materials?
Many older pages contain real value and will continue to play an important role during and after the transition.
At the same time, we are reviewing them carefully.
That means some older materials will be:
-
- updated,
- renamed,
- split into clearer categories,
- moved to a more appropriate website,
- rewritten for clarity,
- archived,
- or retired if they no longer fit our current direction.
Some pages may temporarily use older terminology while this work is underway. That is normal in a transition of this size. We appreciate your patience while we do the intellectual equivalent of renovating a large old house without dropping the library through the floor.
Looking ahead: videos, podcasts, and the next stage of teaching
These website upgrades are not just about improving pages.
They are also preparing us for the next major phase of our educational work.
Once the new Universe Spirit website and the new Way of the Universe website are more fully upgraded and organized, they will become the foundation for creating:
-
- instructional videos,
- podcast episodes,
- podcast outlines,
- teaching scripts,
- and other learning materials built from the upgraded content.
We already recognize that much of the future of teaching and sharing this work will be in strong digital media.
People increasingly learn through video, audio, guided conversations, and podcast-style teaching. They want material they can listen to, revisit, share, and absorb in more flexible ways than traditional long-form website reading alone.
So after the major site upgrades are completed, we expect the new websites to serve as the primary source material for a growing body of:
-
- educational videos,
- practical teaching series,
- guided introductions,
- podcast discussions,
- and structured learning content for different audiences.
This is a natural next step.
The upgraded websites are helping us clarify the core ideas, improve the language, separate different streams of teaching more cleanly, and create a stronger foundation for future media. Once that foundation is in place, it will be much easier to translate the material into video and audio forms that are clear, engaging, and widely accessible.
The future of Universe College
This also affects the future of Universe College.
Universe College has long been closely associated with the older website and its earlier educational functions. As part of this larger transition, it is now being reevaluated.
We are asking an important question:
Can most or all of the educational mission of Universe College be carried forward through high-quality videos, podcasts, and related media, or will we still need to retain some form of online classroom structure in the future?
We do not want to force that answer too quickly.
It may be that videos and podcasts can carry much of what Universe College used to do, at least for a meaningful period of time. They may allow us to teach more flexibly, reach more people, reduce complexity, and make the material more approachable.
At the same time, we are aware that some forms of deeper learning may still benefit from a more structured online classroom environment, whether for guided study, longer courses, community interaction, or more advanced learning pathways.
So for now, Universe College is being carefully reevaluated in light of this new direction.
Our current expectation is that, at least temporarily, much of its earlier role may be replaced by instructional videos and podcasts built from the newly upgraded websites.
Later, once that media ecosystem is more developed, we will be in a better position to decide whether a more formal online classroom structure is still needed, and if so, what form it should take.
The larger purpose of this upgrade
In this sense, the website upgrades are not just a cleanup project.
They are the groundwork for a larger educational transition.
They are preparing the material not only to be read, but also to be taught, spoken, heard, shared, and experienced in the kinds of formats that increasingly shape how people learn today.
That is where we are heading:
-
- clearer websites first,
- then stronger videos, podcasts, scripts, outlines, and teaching tools built on that stronger foundation,
- and from there, a thoughtful reimagining of what the next generation of Universe College, or its functional replacement, should become.
Thank you for your patience
This is a large undertaking, but we believe it is worth doing well.
Our goal is not simply to modernize the appearance of our work.
Our goal is to make it more coherent, more accessible, more accurate, more engaging, and more helpful to the widest possible audience.
Thank you for staying with us through this transition.
We are building something clearer, stronger, better organized, and better prepared for the future than what came before.
Same deeper mission.
Better structure.
Cleaner language.
Less confusion.
More usefulness.
A rare and beautiful outcome in human affairs.
