Amazon, the alter-ego of Jeff Bezos has pledged to be net carbon zero across its businesses by 2040. Here is why that is such a deadly joke!
If we do not make the correct 2025 global fossil fuel reductions, much of humanity will be dead by mid-century.
Worse yet, if we do not come close to the 2025 reductions, we could be facing a total human extinction beginning as soon as 2070 or sooner. (We have provided reference documentation below to support these two publicly well-hidden claims.)
Amazon is a monster corporation with lots of intelligent people who should have done the correct deep climate research. If they had, they would have known that net-zero emissions by 2040 is "far too little far too late!"
What is most dangerous about the phony Amazon/Bezos climate pledge is that it hides the real global warming danger and urgency from society by making society think that the problem is being correctly solved or we are making the correct progress on solving it, when both are incorrect. (See the atmospheric carbon (CO2) graph below, which shows the actual and painful no global warming progress reality our corporations and governments are hiding. Much of this increasing atmospheric carbon is from fossil fuel burning.)
To help Amazon correct this embarrassing global screw-up, below is the research they need to review to see if they can get their ridiculous, under-achieving climate pledge correct the second time! If Amazon, with all its cash and talent, can't get this right, how can we expect other corporations or governments ever to get it right?
In this case, what is good for Amazon is very bad for the rest of the world. This Amazon/Bezos pledge is beyond unconscionable for preserving the life spans and quality of life for generations X, Y, and Z!
By the way, here are the other misguided corporations who have joined in making counter-survival climate pledges that will actually support the die-off of much of humanity by 2050. To name just a few of these corporations, they are Twitter, Salesforce, Procter & Gamble, Visa, Heineken, Alaska Airlines, Verizon, PepsiCo, Best Buy, Reckitt Benckiser (RB), Microsoft, Unilever, and Uber. (There are supposedly some 190 more that we are working to disclose as well.)
This grossly anemic corporate pledge gambit appears to have been coordinated by the .com, Global Optimism. Global Optimism is co-founded by Christiana Figueres, the former IPCC former executive who oversaw the creation of the IPCC's grossly underestimated global fossil-fuel reduction targets. The same global targets that greatly benefited fossil fuel producing nations and fossil fuel-related industries. (More about IPCC underestimation and other problems in references below.)
From a distance, it looks like Global Optimism might be heavily funded by Bezos or Amazon or other big fossil fuel corporate emitters trying to convince us they are doing the right things concerning global warming. If anyone knows who primarily is funding Global Optimism or the approximate salaries of the key executives, please let us know. From a distance, Global Optimism looks like a slick front organization designed to protect corporate interests while making us think those corporations are doing true good.

It is time to also call for global warming legal accountability, the immediate termination of all global fossil fuel subsidies, and placing a worldwide price for all corporations on their carbon, methane, and other greenhouse gas pollution. (For carbon pollution for all corporations (like Amazon,) this price should be in the range of $150 or more per ton.)
